Christ Church is a casual, joyful and welcoming place to worship. We
have an eclectic gathering of influences and styles: about half our
congregation are from the Episcopal or Catholic tradition and half are
from nondenominational backgrounds. Our worship follows the Episcopal
Book of Common Prayer liturgy for Holy Eucharist. While we draw from
the riches of the 1982 Hymnal for our processional and recessional, we
also use praise music from a variety of hymnals and contemporary music
resources for our Song of Praise (traditionally the Gloria/Kyrie), the
Offertory and our Communion songs. We are grounded in the Eucharist as
the place where we meet Jesus in the Body and Blood and open our
hearts to the Holy Spirit. We also offer healing anointing with oil
during communion.
Intercessory prayer also marks the rhythm of our faith community. Our
parishioners share their stories of faith and request prayers from the
community. A healing prayer team is available at the back of the
church after the service to pray for anyone who wants prayer with
laying on of hands. Intercessory Prayer teams meet on Mondays and
Wednesdays to pray for the community, the church and the world.
Finally, children are central to our worship. We offer our "All God's
Children" service on the first and third sundays of the month, geared
towards young and special needs kids. Children are also welcome to be
present at worship for our principal 10:15 service - we offer coloring
supplies and stickers if desired - or they are welcome to join our
Sunday School program that gathers after the Gospel Reading. If your
youngest wishes to stay with you, there is plenty of space to allow
them to move around at the back of the church... or join our "Play and
Pray Pre-K and Nursery" program, where we begin to teach our youngest
the Lord Prayer and the stories of our faith. We hope you will find
our church a warm and welcoming place to worship!
